What is Pizhichil?
Pizhichil is often described as "the royal treatment" of Kerala Ayurveda. In this unique and luxurious therapy, warm medicated oil is continuously squeezed (pizhichil = squeezing) from specially made cloth bundles over the entire body while 2–4 therapists simultaneously perform a coordinated, gentle massage. The result is the most thorough and deeply penetrating oil treatment in Ayurveda.
The oil is heated continuously in a vessel throughout the treatment to maintain optimal temperature.
